I've worked this seasonal job for the past 3 winters. It's an easy job, but with all jobs, there are rants and headaches to deal with.
So what can you, as readers, expect?
I do ask that if you know me personally, please do not give away my identity or location. This is purely for fun, but I would prefer to remain somewhat anonymous.
Interacting with different people interests me. I'm no sociologist, by all means. I just enjoy sharing some of my encounters with people.
So, let's start!
I'm working a hip-hop "grown & sexy" event tonight. It's pretty dead, but I have a few coats. I've only been tipped $1n but that's better than the $0.34 I made in tips last night. It is generally customary to tip your coatcheck person $1 or more, just like drinks at a bar. However, most people don't do this. I understand that the economy has gone downhill, etc., but people in the service industry rely on tips.
The people aren't very friendly, but I'm not here to make friends.
The music is decent and paletable, but as you've probably guessed, I'm bored.
I had 10 coats just minutes ago, and now I'm down to 3. I really can't stand when a group or couple decides to leave and they give me their tickets one at a time.
Anyway, since it's dead, I'm going to roam around.
you should do it for the love of the job, not for tips!!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou're right. It's definitely not about the tips since I don't get any! jk ;)
